The European Quantum Academy (EQA) has launched to help prepare the workforce Europe will need to lead in a quantum sector expected to surpass €155 billion globally by 2040.
As Jacob Sherson, EQA Coordinator, explains:
“Europe's quantum sovereignty will not be secured in a handful of elite labs.
It will be secured by connecting the full pipeline — from the classroom to the cleanroom.”
Backed by €19.8 million in funding, the initiative brings together more than 70 partner institutions and over 100 affiliated organisations across Europe.
Here’s what the Academy will do:
- Coordinate quantum education across the full learning pipeline — from schools and universities to professional upskilling and lifelong learning.
- Connect talent, education and industry through six Regional Quantum Academies spanning Northern, Western, Southern, Eastern and Iberian Europe.
- Help reduce gaps in access to quantum education and opportunities across the continent.
The quantum future needs people. Europe is starting to train them.
